Best of the internet
I can remember the charm and wonder of how the early internet brought people together, and also how it gave large platforms for diverse, funny, and shocking content. At the same time as setting up my own websites I remember:
- Waiting patiently to see what Nathan Barley got up to in each new “issue” of TVGoHome
- The intriguing but disturbing Rotten.com
- Laughing at Maddox’s reviews of “crappy children’s art work” on The Best Page In the Universe
- Considering TheOnion to be the pinnacle of satire
- Sharing funny videos from eBaumsworld
The two best internet fan sites, exhibiting a ying yang of female/male and Europe/American, and which I still visit regularly, are:
I also thought I’d use this page to collect various websites that I’ve found interesting or those that have been (momentarily) culturally relevant:
- Cabel Sosser’s story about the McDonald’s mural (you should watch this video before visiting the website)
- Exploring the virtual tour of 8800 Blue Lick Road (the challenge is to find the bathtub – this video is probably the best and check out the book at 15:54)
